CIRCOR Energy | Instrumentation Group to Supply Products to the Statoil Johan Sverdrup Development

(June 18th 2015)

Spartanburg, SC, USA – Statoil has chosen CIRCOR Energy | Instrumentation products as part of a significant supply package awarded to MRC Teamtrade, a Norwegian unit of MRC Global Inc., the largest distributor of pipe, valve and fitting products and services to the energy and industrial markets. The package consists of all tube products and a complete range of high pressure valves and fittings, which includes CIRCOR’s Gyrolok instrumentation tube fittings and HOKE valves and manifolds. The project will be using smart NORSOK compliant metallurgy to resist the potentially corrosive conditions and testing operational requirements.

Johan Sverdrup is one of the five largest oil fields on the Norwegian continental shelf. With expected resources between 1.7 - 3.0 billion barrels of oil equivalent, it will be one of the most important industrial projects in Norway over the next fifty years. The development and operation of this enormous field will provide revenues and jobs for the coming generations.

CIRCOR Energy’s Instrumentation group has installed products in the Norwegian market for over twenty years. The installed base, combined with a best in class supply chain for the needed specialist raw materials, played an integral role in securing the flagship contract.

Andy Baxter, CIRCOR Instrumentation Global Project Director added, "We have worked very closely with the Norwegian operators over many years to understand and solve many of their technical application and supply challenges, and we have also developed some unique thread less solutions to meet strict environmental and safety requirements in the offshore industry."

CIRCOR will be manufacturing all Johan Sverdrup project products at their state of the art manufacturing center in Spartanburg, South Carolina, USA. The Spartanburg location utilizes state of the art machining capability, supported by highly experienced supply chain and project management teams. Chris Sahlman, CIRCOR Instrumentation’s Vice President and General Manager, adds "We are extremely proud to be supplying this key project.  CIRCOR Instrumentation has executed many major projects over the past decades and we are fully conversant with the expectations that develop over the project life cycle.”
