Scraper Traps & Trolleys Completed for Yemen LNG Pipeline
(January 26th 2007)
Pipeline Engineering has recently completed the manufacture and testing of four Scraper Traps and four Scraper Handling Trolleys for EPCC contractor, AMEC SPIE HAWK to be used on the Yemen LNG Pipeline.
These scraper traps will be required for the Main Line and Transfer Line for the new LNG Plant being constructed by Yemen LNG Company Ltd at Bal Haf.
The producing fields feed two processing units located approximately 320km North West of Bal Haf and a new 320km 36" main pipeline will supply the natural gas to the liquefaction plant. This pipeline will require a scraper launcher located at the Processing Unit and a Scraper Receiver located at Bal Haf.
A new bi-directional 25km long 30" Transfer Line is also being constructed to transfer natural gas between the two processing units and will require a Scraper Launcher and Scraper Receiver.
The size and capacity of each trap is determined by the pipeline and location and the largest weighs 19,500kg and has a capacity of 7,600 litres.
These traps are being supplied by Pipeline Engineering fully assembled with all design, fabrication, testing, inspection and coating requirements being met by Pipeline Engineering.
Additionally as part of the contract, Pipeline Engineering has fabricated the required pipeline pig insertion and retrieval trolleys for each Scraper Trap. These trolleys are capable of handling a 36" pig or three 36" spheres up to a maximum weight of 1000kg.
